Tanguy Chau is the CEO of Paxton.AI, a legal AI assistant tool that's truly changing the game for law professionals. Chau talks about the rapid rise of Paxton, orignally founded as a tool to enhance compliance but has since become an indispensable solution for legal research and assistance. It helps lawyers accelerate their tasks, making their work faster, more efficient, and more accurate. Chau further discusses how Paxton helps lawyers conduct deeper and more comprehensive research, accessing up to 150 million public documents to make the legal research process much easier.
Chau brings a unique perspective to legaltech, having a background in both engineering and legaltech venture capital. With Paxton, he aimed to address both technical inefficiencies and business model inefficiencies in the legal industry. The platform uses machine learning to refine its processes and improve its user experience, learning from users' queries and using the data to train its models, but does not train its models using confidential client data. It has a conversational assistant that interacts with users and gets feedback to improve its responses further. Despite being an AI tool, human judgment is still essential, according to Chau. He says Paxton is there to facilitate and hasten legal research, not replace the need for human interpretation and judgment.
Paxton boasts a myriad of features that are reshaping law practice. It effectively eliminates the necessity for word-by-word searches in huge legal documents, making document review significantly easier. Moreover, it has integrated with YouTube and SEC Edgar for additional research and analysis resources. Despite its vast potential in changing the legal industry, Chau emphasizes that Paxton does not replace lawyers; it merely aids them in their operations.
