(72) Special Education Law + Subscriptions with Michelle Bodden-White of Learning & Legacies Law PLLC

Dr. Michelle Bodden-White is an attorney who previously worked as a teacher and principal for 28 years before going to law school. She is driven by a passion for ensuring educational fairness in light of her experience in the school system in her youth. She served on the ABA's Council for Legal Education and Admission to the Bar, giving her a broad perspective of the legal education landscape, and how law schools often fail to prepare students for solo practice.

Dr. Bodden-White is now launching her own subscription-based law firm, Learning & Legacies Law PLLC, focused on education law and estate planning. The tables are turned on me, as Dr. Bodden-White asks me questions about using technology efficiently to run a subscription firm, including payment processors, practice management tools, and AI assistants. We discuss pricing models, where I recommend an entry-level monthly fee plus add-on subscriptions for specific services.

A key discussion point is how subscription pricing increases access to justice by allowing solo attorneys to offer affordable services. Dr. Bodden-White plans to leverage her education background by offering subscription services to ensure schools properly implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. She also aims to serve clients with non-traditional religious backgrounds who have unique estate planning needs related to religious articles and traditions.
